Chemical Face Peel
Our face peel, the Jessner peel is a medium peel, which means it removes skin cells from the top layer of your skin (epidermis) and the upper portion of the middle layer (dermis).
What can this peel do for you?
- reduce dark patches and age spots
- even out skin tone
- reduce the appearance of scars
- smooth fine lines and wrinkles
- treat melasma (skin discoloration)
- treat hyperpigmentation
- treat acne scars
Is it painful?
The Jessner peel is a medium peel, so you may feel burning or stinging. A hand-held fan is provided to ease the burning.
After the peel, your skin may continue to burn or sting for 20 minutes or more. Your skin will be red, swollen, and tight for the first 24 hours or so. After that, the swelling will go down and your skin will begin peeling.
Is it safe?
As with most procedures, there are side effects, and Dr Musa will discuss these with you.
While most patients will experience some side effects, complications are more common among people with darker skin tones. These include:
- redness and swelling
- stinging or burning
Rare complications include:
- permanent darkening or lightening of the skin
- scarring or infection
What is the downtime?
There is none!
You can resume activities straight after the peel, though some stinging may persist afterwards.
When will I see results?
Your skin may darken or even develop brown patches during this time, but the spots rarely stay after the skin has healed. Once the skin begins peeling off, new smooth skin will be revealed.
It can take 5-7 days after this medium peel to develop new skin. Generally, it will take 7–14 days to heal completely and see the full results of the peel.
Best GP I’ve ever been to. Very thorough and wide range of expertise. My family has followed him to three different practices and excited that he has his own now. Highly recommended.
